Welcome Amiibo

ACNL released an update called "Welcome Amiibo" and it has seriously improved the game!

Let me run you through a few things it added:

1) MEOW Coupons / Campground / Wisp / Amiibo / Items
A new currency has been introduced - you can exchange it for bells, but you can't exchange bells for MEOW Coupons.

These coupons are earned by:
- completing daily and weekly tasks called "Town Initiatives"

- Summoning Wisp with an amiibo (more on him later)
- playing minigames from a couple new items (like Puzzle League!)

The coupons can be traded for items at the new section of your town called the campground.

Every day, a different NPC will be camped out in an RV there, with furniture you can order with MEOW coupons. Harvey also runs a shop that has 2 items each day, also for sale using MEOW coupons.

Wisp is a ghost that you can summon once a day. You can have him either summon a camper to the campground, or give you a random item (your choice) by scanning an amiibo or amiibo card. What's cool is that they actually released 56 new amiibo cards just for this (50 in the Welcome Amiibo set and 6 in the Sanrio set).
Wisp also gives you 5 MEOW Coupons each time you summon him and scan an amiibo.

Between the items Harvey sells and the items from amiibo-summoned RV campers, there's lots of cool new stuff to collect!

2) Secret Storage Compartment

In the interim before the update, I actually ended up starting a second player file on my main game card just to have more storage for things like gold roses, pictures, etc.

BUT with this update, you can now add a secret storage area to your house!
Your locker/dressers can hold 180 items (3*6*10) - but this new storage room in your house is a full 360 slots (4*9*10)!!!

For me, this allowed me to pull a lot of my clothing and furniture out of the museum exhibits (which were mainly storage for me). I'm still working on what I want my house to look like inside, but this helps sooo much.

3) Villager Management

This is really part of Wisp's functionality, but it's SUCH a game changer for people who want certain villagers in their town that I wanted to talk about it sepearately.

It's super annoying having a villager you don't like move in and not have any way to make them leave. I was stuck with Frank (IDEK why I hate him but he irritated me so much) for freaking ever.

When you use an amiibo card of a normal villager (not a Welcome Amiibo or Sanrio set card, or an NPC) you have the option of asking them to move to your town!!!
And if you don't have a spot for them (10 max), you get to pick who to kick out!

That means that if you have dreamies, all you need to do is have their amiibo cards and you'll always be able to have them in your town (even if they move out from TTing or not playing for too long)!

THIS IS AMAZING!

I used this to get mostly squirrels in my town, and kick out the few villagers that were bothering me.

Overall, it's just a fantastic update that really feels like a reward for those who have been playing for so long and not accomplished their goals yet. Thanks Nintendo! :)
